The Black Mage, formerly known as the White Mage, is a recurring evil entity that threatens Maple World, and was also the Transcendent of Light before his death. His actions have impacted the story of many other classes, most notably the Heroes.

As the primary antagonist of Maple World, the Black Mage threatened the world centuries before present day before he was sealed away by the Heroes.

The final battle against the Black Mage took place at Limina in the Arcane River, where he was defeated.
