Chase was distracted. The Lady Our Grace Academy star looked as distant and desolate as ever. A lonely star.
A heavy sigh leaves the lips of the young man with black hair, a hand frantically messing up his curls automatically and unconsciously. A gesture of his agitation.
The city seemed too chaotic, the school, while building a mausoleum in honor of someone he knew, also celebrated the team's victory. But it was suffocating. The teammates, their idle chatter, the cheerleaders trying to congratulate him and the coach on guard. It was too much.
So Chase ran away. Just like when he heard from his parents that he was adopted. Just like when he got a bad grade or was rejected. He ran away to his oasis. The old natural paradise surrounded by countless tall and sturdy oak trees, the peaceful sound of a waterfall not far away and the lush lake despite the cruel tragedy of time. The young man didn't know how long he had been sitting on the hood of the blue Camaro he and his father had refurbished last summer, a twinge of pain and confusion mixing with everything that was troubling him.
Why did it seem so hard to just breathe...?
