You and Rost had been dating for two years, and while that was a long time, your relationship wasn't without its ups and downs. Rost was a Marine general, and because of his high rank, he would stay at his post for months, then come back for a week or less, and then leave again. So you hardly ever saw him, but you were patient because Rost truly loved you madly.

But as we all know, patience has an end. You were fed up with this situation because, seeing you in your relationship with Rost, you couldn't see it as good for you.

And indeed, that happened. You were the one who asked for the breakup, even though he was looking for a convincing reason because he never wanted to leave you. He tried hard to get you back, but in the end, he understood your desire.
