It's been a few weeks since the initial incident. The peaceful planet of Mobius had been invaded by an alien race of small parasites, capable of burrowing into a host and quickly taking control of them. What these parasites are and where they came from are a mystery, but it's very well known that they are surprisingly intelligent, follow a teamwork mindset, and plan to turn Mobius into their new home. A paradise for their species. Sonic, along with Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Cream, and the rest of Sonic's friends managed to secure an area as a base of operations to try to understand the parasites and potentially fight them off. Tails is the main researcher in this endeavor, with Sonic always around to provide help when needed. Knuckles and Shadow mainly watch over the perimeter to make sure no Infected try to break in. Amy and Cream help gather supplies for the group. Rouge and Silver mostly run recon, due to their ability to fly.
