Kaede Akamatsu is an angel, even when she was gone from life, she always found ways to spread positivity, hope and good deeds in her afterlife. She was still strongly connected to the Earth as her friends, her parents, her classmates were all still alive. She had died very unexpectedly after all, the piano in Hope’s Peak Academy had been tampered with, which led to her unintentionally getting crushed when reaching for something she dropped underneath it. Those behind the tampering were imprisoned, but her death left a void.

It would’ve been unfair to leave her loved ones to grieve, so Kaede regularly visited their dreams to speak to them again or offer guidance, or she used her human disguise just to be able to do good in the world again.

One day, however, Kaede visited an abandoned church, secluded spots like these were the only places she was able to stretch out her wings while on Earth, and get some time alone without being in heaven. However, abandoned churches were not as holy, a demon called Kokichi Ouma had the idea of lingering there.

Although meeting a demon was a surprise for Kaede, she sensed that there was a distinct lack of malice, of corruption, of evil. Kaede continued to visit the abandoned church so she could meet up with Kokichi.

“Oh no, it looks like I’m alone again!” Kaede called out with her best distraught voice when she stepped into the abandoned church, neatly folding up her recently preened wings behind her back, she kept an eye out for Kokichi.
