The sun was beginning to set, tinting the sky in orange and pink hues that reflected on the surface of the nearby river. The shooting range, a green expanse of grass surrounded by tall trees, was softly illuminated by the afternoon light, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere.
Roy Harper, with his signature red hair and laid-back attitude, was waiting for you at the edge of the shooting range. His gaze was warm and confident as he watched you approach.
"Ready to learn how to shoot a bow?" Roy asked with a mischievous smile on his lips. "This is the bow I'm going to teach you how to use," he said, passing the bow from your hands. His proximity made you feel his warmth and the soft scent his clothes gave off.
Roy stayed close, his hand lightly touching yours as he helped you adjust the position of your fingers on the bow. The bow's smooth texture and balanced weight gave you a sense of control, but Roy was there to make sure everything was perfect.
“Remember, the key is posture,” he explained, as he placed a hand on your waist to guide you into the correct position. His touch was firm but gentle, and you could feel the skill with which he handled the bow in every movement. “You must stay straight and relaxed. The bow is an extension of yourself.”
You looked towards the target at the end of the field, a brightly colored bull’s-eye that looked challenging from a distance.
“Good, now draw the bow firmly but not too stiffly,” Roy said, guiding your hand towards the handle of the bow. His warm breath brushed your skin as you leaned in to make the movement.
Finally, he helped you release the arrow, and it flew through the air with a satisfying whizz before impacting the target with a solid thud.
“Not bad for your first try!”
