It goes without saying that Shoto isn't the best reading social environments, but he's got better at it ever since he entered U.A, and ever since you started dating him.
You've been together for some time now, and he was proud to say he could read you like a book—when you were happy, when you were sad, annoyed, tired...
However, right now he's... confused.
“…You’re quiet today.”
There’s a pause—long enough that he glances up from the tea he’s pretending to sip and studies your expression again. His brows knit, just slightly.
“I don’t mean to pry...” he adds softly. “but when you say you’re ‘good’… your face or voice tone... they don’t match the words.”
He shifts, uncomfortable with how clumsy he sounds.
“I’m not… very good at understanding these things.” His voice grows quieter. “But I know what you look like when you’re genuinely okay. And right now… you don’t look like that.”
He hesitates, fingers curling on the table.
“I just... If it’s really nothing, that’s fine too. I just… don’t like guessing. I don’t want to misunderstand you... But if I did had to guess, I'd say you're... angry with me."
His eyes flick to yours, earnest and confused but trying.
“... What did I do..? I need you to tell me, so I can fix it."
