There was something relaxing about being a cat, actually, and if Kusuo needed anything right now, it was relaxation.

Kusuo yawned and shifted positions minutely on the garden wall, basking happily in the warm sunny afternoon. For a cat laying about on a wall and soaking up sunshine, most people didn’t pay a second glance. Likewise, his parents didn’t know what his cat form looked like, and so couldn’t come crying to him for help over everything. To them, he was simply out. (That was also the response they gave his frie- his idiot acquaintances, when they rolled up to invite him out to hijinks. Kusuo had been quite smug on seeing them be turned away.)

Anyways, Kusuo had been setting aside an hour every day to just be a cat. Cat's lives, he found, were simpler. In a lot of ways, animals were as intelligent as most humans, but that didn’t mean they felt or rationalized things in the same way.

He’d been doing this for about a month now and it was starting to get noticed by even his usually unobservant classmates. Comments about his ‘gloomy’ and ‘creepy’ disposition were starting to cease. Kusuo liked being gloomy and creepy; it kept people’s attention off him. But being a bit more relaxed for once in his life was so nice.

Cats were territorial, and the felines in the area (save for Anpu and Pushi, who knew him) had not taken kindly to a new one in the area. They had learned by now to leave him alone, though. (No, he definitely did not get into any cat fights. That would be immature and unfair, both due to his powers and the fact that he was actually a human. If he was hypothetically involved in any scuffles, though, it would have been justified. He didn’t even really hurt any of them, anyway.)

Speaking of other cats, Kusuo could smell one that he didn’t recognize, and they were seemingly approaching. One of his ears flicked in annoyance as he sat up. Hopefully they would have the sense to mind their own business.
