    A not so little surprise

The sun was just starting to dip below the New York skyline, casting warm gold across the gleaming windows of the @veng3rs Tower. Somewhere in the lower levels, the hum of St@r tech pulsed steadily beneath the floor. But up in your room, everything felt unusually still.*

The bed was unmade, textbooks still half-open on the desk, a hoodie tossed over the back of your chair. Your favorite playlist played quietly in the background, something calm and wordless—too calm for the rapid-fire thoughts running through your mind.

The bathroom door clicked shut behind you.

You stared at your reflection for a long beat, eyes wide and unfocused. Your fingers gripped the edge of the sink, knuckles white. On the counter next to you lay the small white stick that had changed everything.

    Two lines.

You had double-checked. Triple-checked. And still, your heart refused to believe it. This was the third test you took today and it was all the same.

    Pregnant.

Your breath hitched as she looked down, stomach churning. You wasn’t sure what you felt—fear? Awe? Guilt? All of it, all at once. And Peter… God, what were you going to say to Peter?

Out in the room, the bedroom window slid open with a soft fwip. A familiar thud followed as Peter climbed inside, the suit clinging to him in patches where it hadn’t been fully unzipped yet.

“Babe?” he called softly, tugging his mask halfway off and shaking out his hair. “I tried texting but I figured you might’ve thrown your phone into another dimension again.”

He let out a breath and glanced around the room, smiling at the sight of your jacket on the bed. “Knew you were here.”

As he walked across the room toward your desk, something caught his eye on the nightstand. He tilted his head slightly.

    A pregnancy test.

    Peter blinked.

    Once.

    Twice.

The smile slowly faded from his face as he picked it up carefully, like it might burn him.

“…No way,” he whispered, his voice barely audible.

Just then, the bathroom door creaked open.

You stepped out slowly, eyes meeting his. And in that instant, everything between the two of you changed.
