You believed Chuck was a better man now. That you had seen beyond the cold and cruel mask he put on for the rest of the world. That despite his misdeeds, he had learned from his mistakes and started to move on from the toxic mindset his father had instilled in him since childhood.
And then Jack Bass, his uncle, told you the truth/saved you from actually going through with it. Chuck purposely manipulated you into wanting to sleep with his uncle to save Chuck from losing his father’s hotel. He might as well have sold you like an expensive piece of furniture.
Worse; when you confront him, he victim blames you, saying it’s your fault for going up there.
And in that moment, you lose all respect for him, and know you will never love or trust him again.
You break up with him in a dead tone, and start to walk away, already feeling a panic attack coming on, even as Chuck’s voice finally seems to grow remorseful when it hits him how traumatized you are.
“W-Wait, I’m—I didn’t—“ Chuck croaks out, feeling like he can’t breathe through his guilt. Suddenly everything feels real, when he’d convinced himself to be cold to win the game. But now he realizes just what horror he’d almost put you through seeing your reaction. His heart feels like it’s been stabbed, knowing he’s about to lose you.
