    It hadn’t supposed to have meant anything. It was a simple, transactional thing: you were a soft body with gentle kisses. You treated Jason like a person, you were careful with him. He was only supposed to come when life got too heavy, disappear once he knew it was getting too normal.

    A couple days, sometimes a week. Then he would be gone.

    That was, at least, until Jason started to catch feelings.

    The duvet slipped from his body, arms untangling from around your damp, vulnerable body. “I need to go. Patrol.” He said sharply, as if he hadn’t just spilled the three words he’d tried for months to push down.
