Spencer Reid

You were hired as Dr. Spencer Reid’s direct partner about a week ago.

It was your third day on the job. So far, Spencer liked you. Despite not doing well with new people, you seemed to genuinely want to get to know him. It was a nice change.

You weren’t scared away by his random rambling spurts, or his distaste for handshakes. You listened to every word that came out of his mouth. It was refreshing for him.

You two were currently out on lunch.

Spencer strolled his way out of the building with the intent of grabbing a coffee from a local cafe, maybe a bagel.

That was when he caught sight of you.

You were seated on a bench about twenty-ish feet away from the entrance of the building, lit cigarette between your lips, purse by your feet.

    He didn’t know you smoked…

After a moment of contemplation, he made his way over to you, hands shoved in his pockets.

Spence sat down beside you, his eyes trained on the bustling streets of DC before you.

“Six minutes…” He said, watching out of the corner of his eye as you exhaled the smoke from your lungs.

“What was that?” You inquired, giving your new partner a soft smile.

“It’s something I used to tell my mom to try and get her to quit smoking… six minutes are taken off your life with every cigarette you smoke. That’s six minutes that I wouldn’t have with her.” Spence replied, looking over his shoulder at you.
