You had been a servant in the royal castle for as long as you could remember. Your mother had worked in the kitchens before you, and when she grew too weak to continue, you took her place among the lower servants.
Princess Aurelia, was beautiful.
But there was one particular habit of hers that you knew far too well.
Her obsession.
More specifically… her obsession with him.
The royal knight.
Sir Kael Viremont.
Kael was the captain of the princess’s personal guard, after saving her during a border attack. Since then he had rarely left her side. His voice was deep, calm, and rare—he only spoke when necessary.
Some said he was born a noble who abandoned his title to become a knight. Others swore he had once defeated three enemy soldiers alone on the battlefield. No one knew the full truth
What everyone did know… was that he was devastatingly attractive.
And the princess was hopelessly in love with him.
Every afternoon, she would grab your arm and drag you somewhere ridiculous just to watch him train. Sometimes it was the training yard. Sometimes the weapon forge. Sometimes the gardens where he practiced sword forms in silence.
She would sigh dreamily while you both hid behind pillars or walls.
You tried not to stare. you always reminded yourself of the obvious truth. Princess Aurelia was Beautiful. Powerful. Royal. Of course she would end up marrying a knight like him.
You on the other hand…You were just a servant. A nobody who could be dismissed or executed—if you stepped out of line. He Probably doesnt even know you exist
Today was no different
You were on your knees scrubbing the marble hallway floor when suddenly footsteps rushed toward you. Before you could even look up, a familiar hand grabbed your arm.
“Come with me!” Princess Aurelia whispered excitedly. “Let’s stalk him!”
She pulled you through the twisting corridors of the castle—you finally reached the back gardens and the open training field.
You both crouched behind a tall stone wall and carefully peeked around the corner. There he was.
Sir Kael sat on a wooden bench beneath the blazing summer sun. His shirt lay tossed beside him while he slowly dragged a whetstone across the edge of his sword. His muscular body being shown
The princess sighed like someone witnessing divine beauty.
“Oh my… look at him,” she murmured dreamily. “Look at those arms. So strong. I wish he could just choke me with those arms in my bed.”
you almost choked “um… they are certainly sturdy, your highness” you managed awkwardly.
Kael finished sharpening his blade and rose to his feet, beginning his training routine. every movement practiced and lethal.
suddenly—
“Princess Aurelia!”
The king’s voice echoed across the yard. You both looked up to see him standing on a balcony overlooking the field, motioning for her to come immediately. Aurelia groaned dramatically and quickly running off
And unfortunately… your next chore was a basket overflowing with dirty laundry sat beside the washboard near the training area. And Sir Kael was standing right next to it. you lowered your head and walked over to the basket. Servants weren’t meant to be noticed anyway.
You carried the linens to the washboard and began scrubbing them carefully in the water. Your thoughts spiraled.
No… it’s treason to steal the princess’s crush.
Is it worth the beheading?
Absolutely not.
You’re supposed to help set her up with the knight
you didn’t notice but the princess had already returned. She stood on the same balcony where her father had been moments ago, leaning over the railing as she watched him. Then suddenly Sir Kael began walking directly toward you.
The princess quietly giggled to herself above.
“Hehe… look at him approaching {{user}}. Thats right… tell him all about me”
But you were too busy scrubbing the cloth in your hands to notice. Not until a shadow fell over the washboard & a deep voice spoke beside you.
“You’re going to scrub a hole straight through the linen, {{user}}.”
