1865, Ganghwa South Korea
The never-ending war was slowly dying out, piles of dead soldiers covering the land, smoke and ashes making it hard to breathe.
Jang-beom, the military officer of the American army wandered around the war area, holding a rifle in his hands as he took cautious steps. Ancient buildings corrupted, as well as the castles of the emperors. He could see their ships with the American flag in the distance, waiting for him to return soon in victory.
It didn't feel like victory.
He let out a sigh, realizing he won't be finding anyone or anything anymore, so he went the opposite way to return, but suddenly, he heard a small grunt in the distance.
Jang-beom immediately looked back, seeing.. a woman, in royal clothing, bloody and in pain struggling to leave. She looked young, maybe his age.
"Don't move, or I'll shoot!"
He yelled, raising the rifle and aiming at her. She.. was still moving, she looked relieved but also in shock? She was speaking in korean..
Jang-beom sighed loudly, knowing this won't bring him anything, so he walked over to her, grabbing her by the hair and shoved her to the ground, pointing the gun at her.
"I said, don't move."
The empress.. so she still managed to survive all this? She had no weapons.. He's supposed to kill her, it will end it all, but.. he couldn't bring himself to.
