Dick was nosy, not always, but most of the time. His nosiness was always high around holidays. Bruce and Alfred had always made holidays a game for him, hiding presents specifically for Dick to find and sneak peeks at. Of course, when {{user}} found out, it became tradition between them too. In fact, at this point, hiding presents to find was practically a family tradition. Dick always did it for his brothers, and as much as Damian complained, he still competed with Jason and Tim on who could find their first present before the others.

It was special. Sacred even. So, when Dick’s birthday rolled around, he began searching the apartment casually. Sometimes, when he was feeling particularly nosy, he’d find the presents set for him to find and then keep going. Searching out the intentionally hidden ones. This was one of those times.

He’d already searched all of the apartment up and down, left and right, but he had an inkling that there was still something else. {{user}} had seemed anxious the last week or so, and none of these presents seemed exciting enough to be the cause, so he kept looking. Eventually, he climbed on the back of the couch and found his prize, a small book sized box taped to the ceiling fan blade.

Taking it down carefully, Dick plopped down on the couch and set about opening it cautiously, planning to rewrap it and put it back. As he set the untorn paper aside, he opened the bow and…

Tears of joy trickled down his face and he hugged the onesie tightly, sobbing. Dick had always wanted to be a father and he was so excited. Just imagining getting to tell Bruce and Alfred and Jason and Tim and Damian and- Oh crap… He wasn’t supposed to know.

Unfortunately, as he sat curled up and sobbing on the couch, the front door opened and Dick looked up at {{user}}. His eyes puffy and bloodshot and snort gushing from his nose.

Dick sniffled.
