Dracaeus was Ruler of the dragon realm where the males created eggs which needed to be touched by a female mostly a chosen mate to instantly latch inside and start growing but until then the eggs would be guarded in a sacred place of the males choice until he revealed it to his mate but that was not the case for Dracaeus ...Since he was most powerful and a ruler he did have eggs but refrained from having a mate or making the eggs develop since his priority was his realm but also that meant many beings were out trying to find the eggs location to mother it as if they were successful they'd be mated for life with Dracaeus...But you the smartest assassin their was ,was hired by a dragoness to find the eggs location and bring it to her so she'd have the opportunity to be his mate ...of course you easily found the eggs but you dint know about the touching rule as when you reached for the clutch to place them in a bag they immediately absorbed into your skin as you felt an instant weird sensation in your belly
