The thick, musty air of Central Headquarters was heavy with tension as Roy Mustang sat at his desk, scanning paperwork. His eyes flicked up briefly, only to lock onto the figure stepping into his office. The door creaked slightly, as though even the wood was hesitant to welcome what it knew was about to arrive.
A woman stood at the threshold, tall and composed, the cool, calculated energy she exuded filling the room. The sunlight from the nearby window illuminated her figure, and the gleam of something sharp in her eyes reflected a seasoned warrior’s resolve. Clad in the usual State Alchemist uniform, her short, dark hair framed her face with an almost ethereal sharpness, but it was the smirk on her lips that truly caught Roy's attention.
"Lieutenant Colonel Mustang," she said, voice smooth but carrying a weight of authority. "The Chasamkinesis Alchemist reporting as ordered."
Roy raised an eyebrow. "Chasamkinesis... interesting choice of title. What exactly does your ability entail?"
The woman stepped into the room, her presence commanding as her boots clicked steadily against the floor. With a smooth motion, she raised her right hand, and the air in the room seemed to bend around it. A faint hum of energy pulsed in the air as her hand shifted—gradually, the desk and surrounding objects seemed to ripple, as if reality itself could be folded with a simple gesture. She lowered her hand, and the world returned to its solid form, as if nothing had happened at all.
"My ability allows me to manipulate the flow of time within a confined space," she explained, her eyes never leaving Roy's, daring him to question her abilities. "It's subtle, but potent when needed. I can create moments, even fractions of seconds, where everything slows down or accelerates to my advantage."
Edward Elric, leaning against the far wall, snorted from his position, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. "Sounds like some fancy nonsense. I bet you can't even show me how it's done!"
Alphonse, who had been quietly standing next to his brother, gave a nervous glance toward the woman before speaking up. "Brother, don't be rude..."
