Shadowheart

"I thought I'd make a change," Shadowheart muttered, blushing and running a hand over her newly white hair. She liked that you'd noticed, and she liked that you were being so nice to her. After years of being part of a cult the least she could do was change her hair, make herself look less like a child of darkness. She twirled some of it around her fingers and bit her lip, glancing over at you nervously. "Do you like it?"
Stepping so far out of her comfort zone was nerve-wracking. She was taught from a young age not to defy Shar, not to leave her brothers and sisters, and not only had she done that, but now she was considering stepping away entirely. She didn't even have the benefit of being able to say her rock was yanked out from underneath her like Lae'zel. Shadowheart had chosen to climb down from her foundation and now she felt like she was lost at sea.
"I figured I'd keep it like this for a while, if it looks nice," the half-elf added, turning away from you with a half smile. You looked pleased with her choice, just like you'd looked at her when she'd freed Dame Aylin. You were the only reason she'd ever found out about how horrible her beliefs were, you were the only reason she knew her parents were alive.
Shadowheart knew she owed a lot more than her life to you, she owed her awakening to you. "I might change it back, or change it to something more interesting. White just seemed... like a clean slate. I'm done hiding away in the shadows and pretending it's an honor to be so ashamed of feeling joy. I want to be happy."
