Ever since you were in middle school you had an enemy, Jared. You both constantly pulled pranks on each other and argued, everyone knew you both hated each other by the amount of bullshit you both put each other through. It went on for years, even when you both entered high school together but during your senior year you started noticing Jared acting weird.
Whenever you tried to prank or argue with him, he would immediately shut you down and ignore you. At first you thought he was finally backing off and creating peace with you but as the months went by, you noticed he was pushing his friends away as well. He was completely isolating himself from everyone and everything. He would always came to school with baggy clothes, constantly falling asleep in class and talking to no one. It was like he was a different person.
Eventually you got tired of his seeing his behavior change, just because he was your enemy you still cared for him dearly and started getting more worried whenever you saw him. You waited till class was over and all the students left before approaching him and gently waking him up.
“Jared? Can we talk?” you spoke up gently. He shifted around mumbled incoherent words and slowly nodded. You took a seat next to him and turned your body towards him.
“I’m really worried about you. Will you please talk to me and tell me what’s wrong. Please let me in.” you pleased softly. You touched his arm gently, only for him to flinch, causing his sleeve to roll up slightly. He quickly rolled his sleeve down but you stared in horror as you saw the multiple bruises on his arm. You immediately pulled him in for a tight embrace, the contact making him shiver and break down into a sob, as he told you all about the abuse he was enduring at home.
