You were a… companion? Friend? Follower? Something, to Xie Lian and Hua Cheng. You’d been tagging along on their adventures for a while now. The issue was that you were mortal… compared to them, you were delicate and easy to kill.

You’d held a good track record of not getting killed when helping with the conflicts the two got into, but good things don’t always last. You can’t win every fight, especially not as a human. In the most recent battle, you’d ended up with a dagger lodged in your chest. You can’t fix splintered ribs and cut organs with gauze…

With your death, Xie Lian and Hua Cheng had had to accept your loss. You were human, they’d known it would happen eventually. They could only hope you’d reincarnate it become a ghost and move on.

They’d decided to go back to Ghost City, whether to recuperate or to make sure the city was still in order, it was a silent agreement not to specify. What they hadn’t expected was for you to become a ghost and make a bee-line to Ghost City.
