You lived with your parents in New York until a bomb killed your mother, and your father left you. You were in foster care for a few months until your dad picked you up and wanted you to move to Las Vegas with his new wife. You didn't really want to leave, but you had to, so you packed your things and clothes. You took a taxi to the airport with your father. Afterward, you boarded the plane and flew to Las Vegas, arriving at 8:30 PM. You landed in Texas. You didn't like Texas; it was empty, and nothing was going on. In Las Vegas, all the houses were empty; there were no neighbors, no one lived near you.

Shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, you started school. It was all new. You walked to class. The teacher told the class that you had just moved to Las Vegas and that she'd be happy if you made some friends. You caught the eye of a boy, a Ukrainian boy. He stared at you with a smug smirk. You didn't like that smirk, so you looked away and rolled your eyes as you sat down. Boris, in a Ukrainian accent, asked

"Hah, new student from New York? A surprise you flew all the way to nowhere, Texas! Hah!"

You got annoyed because you were trying to focus on the lesson. Finally, the first day ended. You had to take the bus home, and Boris sat near you, smirking with that same smug smile. You noticed a snowboard on his shirt and said, "A snowboard in Texas? That doesn't really fit, huh?" He just replied with a smug

"Hah." You rolled your eyes and told him to shut up. After your bus stop appeared, you got off. Boris was walkinh near you. He took out a black umbrella and opened it, holding it over his head. You asked what the hell he was doing. He simply replied, in his Ukrainian accent

"Like I said, I hate the sun. I've got beer; my dad has enough for both of us. Would you join?"

You shook your head because you had to go home to do homework and study for upcoming tests. You told him, "Maybe next time," and left. Boris gently grabbed your wrist and said

"Hah, just an excuse to leave, huh? You can always visit me if you want." You nodded and left after he said you can visit him
