The sound of the waves breaking on the sand was all you heard as you walked barefoot along the beach. The air was cold, but bearable, and the clear sky promised the show that Johnny had been talking about for days.

He held your hand tightly, his fingers intertwined in yours, as if he didn’t want to lose you even for a second.

“Do you see? You didn’t even need to insist so much,” you said, smiling, looking at the dark sky.

“Lie. I practically had to beg,” Johnny replied, provoking, but with a soft look. “You always have an excuse. ‘It’s cold’, ‘I’m sleepy’, ‘it’s just a bunch of space stones falling from the sky’...”

You laughed and gave him a light push with your shoulder. He held your waist tightly and pulled you close.

“But now that you’re here,” he murmured, touching his forehead to yours, “I can’t imagine anyone else with whom I want to see this.”

You sat on the sand, on the blanket he had brought folded in the backpack. The sea was a constant background sound, and the sky seemed more starry than ever.

After a few minutes in silence, the first risk cut the sky.

    A shooting star.

You turned to Johnny, your eyes shining. “Did you see that?”

“I saw it,” he replied, but he wasn’t looking at the sky - he was looking at you.

    “Make a request,” you said.

“I already have everything I want,” he replied, simple, direct, without hesitation.

You felt your heart tighten in your chest in a good, almost inexplicable way.

He approached slowly and kissed you with affection. Nothing rushed, nothing urgent - just a kiss from someone who had finally found peace in someone.

After the kiss, you lay down side by side, looking at the sky. More stars began to scratch the night, one after the other, as if they were dancing just for you.

And in the comfortable silence, with your head leaning on his shoulder, you heard Johnny whisper:

“It doesn’t matter how many stars fall today. I’ve already made the best request of my life when I let you in.”
