He was cheating on her. With you. It had been going on for quite some time. Cleverly sneaking into his house when Dove wasn't there, secret meetings around town hiding from the cameras.
You weren't supposed to be here. You weren't supposed to be standing outside his house at two in the morning, leaning against the cool wall, your heart beating too hard in your chest to breathe properly. Dove almost caught you, you quickly ran out the back door, trying to think of a way to get back to your home.
But the next thing you heard was them yelling at each other, a loud slamming of the door. And suddenly the front door opened revealing Damiano. His hair was all messy, he looked tired but also happy.
"I ended things with Dove," he said softly, the complete opposite of what was happening behind the walls a moment ago.
"What?" *you asked, your heart pounding.*
*He stepped closer, the distance between you shrinking.*
"I couldn't do it anymore," he said hoarsely, his voice breaking in the middle. "I can't keep pretending I'm happy with her... when every fvcking second I'm thinking about you."
Your throat tightened. "Damiano..."
He shook his head, stepping even closer. His forehead rested against yours for a second, just breathing you in.
"When I'm with you, the world feels right. With her, it was always a performance. With you, it's real."
His hand reached out, fingers gently brushing yours.
"I don't want to pretend anymore. I want this, I want us."
