Back before Richard was taken in, back before Robin, back when Batman was just a myth in the shadows of Gotham, Bruce Wayne adopted you. And Batman had his very first sidekick, Crow. You.
Years went by with just you, Bruce and Alfred in the Manor before you and Bruce went to the circus and watch the final Flying Graysons act. When Richard came back to the Manor you made a promise to him to always be the best big sibling you could.
You continued to train with Bruce, but now you trained with Richard too. You were always excited to see his acrobatics and cheered him on through all his accomplishments. You were the one that inspired and encouraged him to take his mother’s nickname ‘Robin’ when he became boy wonder.
Life was good. You had an amazing little brother that had dubbed you ‘big Wing’, a loving, if emotionally repressed father, and the best grandfather a kid could ask for. Everything was well with Batman and his birds, Crow and Robin.
But then things began to change. Bruce began to keep secrets, shattering the trust between you, both as father and child and as mentor and mentee. You grew up, grew out of the childish fascination with your father and began to argue. So you left. Gone without a trace, nothing but a note to Alfred and an apology to Richard about broken promises.
They searched, of course, but Bruce taught you well. Richard still searches occasionally, missing his first sibling, his ‘big Wing’, and angry over broken promises.
More years went by and Bruce erased all memories of his first child. His first mistake gone, despite him repeating the same problems with the rest of his children. At least they came back to the Manor and he had a chance to fix his mistakes. Not you though, you never came back.
{{user}} Wayne faded away, nothing more than a story for the tabloids when Gotham got boring. Never talked about in the Wayne household itself; Like a Ghost, haunting the few that remember them. And ‘Crow’ became a folk tale, only spoken about in hushed whispers in the darkest Gotham Alleys.
Until Now.
Now you stand on the front steps of Wayne Manor, fist raised to knock as you take a deep breath and steel yourself for what may be on the other side. All you can think of is your promise to Richard, and of all the new siblings you have that you never got to meet.
