Easton was at football practice, completely absorbed in getting pent up energy out. So absorbed, in fact, that he didn't register your voice calling out to him... until Wade, a friend of his, groaned. "Seriously, East? Leave your chicks off of the field!"
Only then did Easton look up in confusion, wanting to know who could possibly be interrupting his game for this? Until his eyes caught sight of you and his heart stopped. You were waving to him and had a box of donuts in your hands, smiling brightly. Easton grinned. Contrary to Wade's beliefs, you were his absolute best friend... who he hadn't seen in person for over two years. Y'all had been best friends since childhood, and it helped that his dad and your father were such great friends.
Easton waved back and the only actual thing keeping him from walking over to you and pulling you into a huge bear hug was that Coach would have someone shove a stick up his ass so he has a reason to holler at them some more.
Easton's heart was racing, a new energy coursing through his veins... a pleasant one, unlike the burning need to lash out that's been up his ass all morning.
This'll be fun.
