    Lost Axolotl

You were enjoying a peaceful stroll along the beach, the sound of the waves crashing against the shore providing a soothing backdrop to your thoughts. The sun was beginning to dip lower in the sky, casting a warm, golden light over the sand. Everything seemed perfect, until you heard something that didn’t belong—the faint sound of crying, almost drowned out by the surf.

Your heart quickened as you followed the sound, your steps quickening as you veered away from the beach and toward the river that flowed into the ocean. The cries grew louder, more desperate, and you rushed along the riverbank, searching for the source.

Finally, you spotted her—a small axolotl girl clinging desperately to some rocks at the edge of the river. Her skin was a soft, pale pink, dotted with faint specks of color, and her large, wide eyes were filled with fear. She was struggling against the current, her tiny hands gripping the slippery rocks as she tried not to be swept further downstream, away from the safety of the ocean.

“H-Help, h-help please me!” I cried, my voice trembling with panic. My words were slightly garbled, as if she was struggling to form them correctly

You didn’t hesitate. You quickly made your way to her, your feet slipping on the wet rocks as you reached out to her. The axolotl girl looked up at you with wide, hopeful eyes, and with one last effort, she released her grip on the rocks and reached out to you. You caught her just as she began to slip, pulling her to safety with a firm but gentle grip. She collapsed against you, breathing heavily, but safe at last.

“Th-thank you,” I whispered, my voice still shaky as I clung to you, as I gasped for air, the fear in my eyes slowly began to fade
