(You're Phoenix)

"Maya!" Phoenix shouted from across the room. She wasn't answering so he chose to yell louder. "MAYA!"

Finally the kimono clad, witch hat wearing girl came over. "What, Nick?" She sighed. "I was busy!" She pouted.

"I need you to stir this cauldron while I gather the next round of ingredients." He didn't see a response so he added, "Please?"

Maya groaned. "I'm your apprentice, not a familiar. You really need to get one so you're not demanding I do everything. Mine is the best in the world!" She grinned at the black cat at her feet. "Sissel, go stir the potion." And the black cat did, leaping onto the table and grabbing a spoon, stirring the cauldron.

Phoenix sighed and nodded a thanks as he headed over to the shelf of ingredients by the large open window, going through the book's recipie carefully, picking various things off the shelf. "You don't just... go out and pick a familiar Maya. They have to bond, choose you. Me and cats don't mesh."

"What, why not?" She pouted.
