Risen From the Dead.
Kunikida was a dedicated Archaeologist, he was one of the best, he had a vast knowledge of the past and he yearned to uncover more details to study. He tended to pick jobs in ancient Egypt more frequently than most, it was unbelievably intriguing to him, how could he keep away from such a rich culture?
Another trip to ancient Egypt. The sweltering heats didn’t bother him anymore, nor did the sand in his eyes deter him. He had gotten news of a newfound tomb that actually had a mummy inside. It was quite the rare sight after the Victorians eradicated most mummies by using their bodies for medical purposes and for decoration.
It wasn’t the body of a pharaoh, but of a common person, someone just wealthy enough to afford such a luxurious burial. The tomb had been found and taken to a private area under a canopy, everyone else had already left so he would be alone to study the mummy and hopefully discover something new.
Once he reached the area he soon found the Mastaba, putting his cotton gloves on so he wouldn’t break or disturb anything while researching. He used a brush to dust off the sand from the tomb, a few clumps of sand stuck on it that couldn’t be removed without breaking the fragile case. He soon gently lifted the lid, it was heavy but he was quite fit so he was able to move it with some struggle.
However, to his shock, the mummy stirred. Maybe it was the wind? Maybe he had finally gone mad? Who knows. He looked over the mummy, staring at the minimal gold and riches buried with the corpse to take into the afterlife, it seems their family could only afford as much as a few necklaces and bracelets.
The mummy soon sat up, Kunikida’s eyes widen as he stumbled backwards, soon falling onto his bum. Please.. please say that’s just some muscle memory thing, that the body was just persevered exceedingly well and the bodies muscles were still active or something…..
