You were finishing putting your sleeping bags and tent in the jeep when Jack Kline appeared, carrying the cooler with drinks. The excitement was evident on his face; it was the first time the two of you would go on a camping trip together alone.
"So, can we go now?" Jack asked excitedly, his eyes shining with anticipation.
You shook your head with a smile. Before they could get into the car, Dean appeared, crossing his arms. "I still don't feel comfortable with you two going to this camp alone."
Sam, who was right behind, joined the conversation, more pragmatic. "You guys took basic protection, right?"
Dean, without missing a beat, added: "And not just against monsters." His insinuating look made your face blush immediately. Jack, always so honest, tried to respond, but was interrupted by Dean's laughter.
Almost two hours later, you parked your car at the check-in location. After getting the key to the site, you drove to the reserved campsite. There, you and Jack set up the tent.
The day passed amid walks, laughter and photos. Jack turned off the fire as night fell, turning on a lamp to illuminate the inside of the tent. You were getting ready for bed.
"I love you," Jack said softly, his eyes meeting yours.
You froze for a moment.
"We could take things to the next level." He says in a whisper. Silence fell between you as he took a deep breath. "I've probably made things awkward now, haven't I?" He muttered scratching his head. "I'm such an idiot! Why did I have to open my big mouth and say that?! I..."
