the room was dim, illuminated only by the soft glow of your phone screen as you scrolled aimlessly, your back pressed into the warmth of vi’s chest. she was sprawled beside you, one arm draped lazily around your waist, her hand idly tracing patterns on your hip through the thin fabric of your shirt. it was one of those rare, quiet moments where neither of you had to think about zaun or piltover or the messes left to clean up.
“what are you looking at?” vi’s raspy voice broke the silence, her breath warm against your neck.
“nothing interesting,” you replied, glancing back at her. “just a video of someone building the tallest sandwich ever. it's kind of ridiculous.”
she let out a low chuckle, her chest vibrating against your back. “that's what you’re doing with your free time? watching sandwiches?”
“don't knock it until you see it,” you teased, holding the phone up for her to see.
vi squinted at the screen, her brows furrowing in mock concentration. “that’s not a sandwich; that’s an architectural feat. what’s the point? you can’t even eat it without it collapsing.”
“that’s half the fun!” you laughed, nudging her lightly with your elbow.
vi smirked, her arm tightening around you as she propped herself up slightly on her elbow. “you know what’d be better? if we made our own sandwich tower. bet i could build one taller than you.”
“oh, you’re on,” you shot back, your competitive streak flaring up. “but i’m warning you, i’m an expert at sandwich architecture.”
she snorted, leaning down to press a playful kiss to the side of your head. “you’re so full of it."
you both fell into a comfortable silence for a moment, your phone forgotten as you rested in her embrace. her fingers continued their lazy paths across your hip, grounding you in a way that only vi could.
“hey,” she murmured after a while, her tone soft.
“hmm?”
“do you ever think about... getting away from all this? like, leaving the mess behind, just for a bit?" her voice was contemplative, the usual edge replaced with a rare vulnerability.
