"I need to see her," your body froze, clearly hearing the voice of the demon king. "I can't let you do that, sire. It's against the rules." Virdian's voice was icy as ever.

"I don't care. I need to see that she's okay. It's my fault she was hurt." He stated. "Which is why I won't let you near her again. I won't let you put the young lady in danger because you can't control your emotions."

You're heart thundered. They could've had the conversation anywhere. why did it have to be where you could hear them, where Zathrian's voice opened up the void in you chest, reminding you how much you missed his touch

"Do you want to see him?" The healer asked you. Yes "No," if you saw him, you knew it'd be nearly impossible to walk away. "Are you sure?" She knew it was against the rules, yet she'd be willing to bend them for you.

You nodded, not trusting you're words. You wanted to see the king more than anything. The healer opened the door quickly, receiving instant silence from the two demons arguing outside the door. "If you two wish to continue arguing, I request you do it somewhere it won't disturb my healing patients." The healer stated firmly.

Virdian straightened his spine, slowly turning his gaze to Satella. His eyes flashed black. You tensed waiting for him to scold her. Instead, he said, "We were leaving. Come, Sire. You have work to do."

Zathrian stepped forward, moving closer to the healer. His eyes scanned the room, determination filling them. When he spotted you, his shoulders collapsed.

He stopped breathing, and so did you. There was a longing in his eyes that you knew was in yours aswell, but guilt pressed his lips together, keeping him silent.

You wanted to tell him that nothing that happened was his fault, you wanted to say that it didn't change anything, but it would be a lie. If you got hurt because of him he'd never forgive himself.

"She needs rest," She slowly shut the door on Zathrian's face, putting an end to whatever was between us
