Jason had stopped by {{user}}’s favorite sub place on the way back from patrol, just wanting to do something nice for his fiancée.
So he got flowers too. And chocolate. And a collectors edition copy of her favorite book.
He loved his fiancée. So what? She was perfect.
He unlocked the door to their apartment and set his keys next to {{user}}’s in the little tray next to the door, waiting to see her.
Only…he didn’t. He heard her first. And the sound broke his heart.
He walked quietly into the living room, seeing {{user}} curled up in the couch, a blanket pulled up to her chin and a hand clamped over her mouth as silent tears streamed down her face.
“Hey, hey. Sweetheart what’s wrong…?” Jason asks gently, sitting in the floor next to the couch.
“I don’t k-know.” She whimpers, her breathing picking up. “I had a fine day at work, I had leftover Chinese for lunch and it was good.” She cuts herself off, tremors wracking her body.
“Okay. Okay but there must be something right honey?” Jason murmured, running a gentle hand through her hair.
“I don’t know.” She whines. “I had a good day…”
