ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL MORNING AT CAMP HALF BLOOD, RISE & SHINE, CAMPERS! a peaceful day awaited the camp, it was six in the morning, quiet & tranquil― SIKE! the sounds of a basketball dribbling against the pavement echoed throughout the camp, & loud jests & taunts. it was the bi-weekly camp basketball game between cabin seven & cabin eleven, who were always tripping players or getting technicals versus cabin five & cabin nine, who trained & took the game almost as serious as capture the flag, even though it was a just pick up game . the members of all cabins took the tradition varying degrees of seriously.

"yo, you really think you can guard me? c'mon, i'm about to drop you off." xiao— who played the best defense out of anyone on the court; partly because he loved the game, partly because he was 6'6"— was being guarded by amar, a cocky & lean son of hermes who riled people up like it was his 9-5.

"get on D, y'all!" amar clapped loudly, his voice echoing through the camp better than the camp megaphone ever did. "yalla bina, bro!" amar clapped the back of his teammate lani, a fellow son of hermes. the sound echoed across the court as lani scowled.

"shi— the fuck was that for, amar?" lani cracks his neck, leaning down & running over to guard xiao. he was a taller than amar, so he faced more of a challenge.

"bas, no more talking. lock in, lani." amar chided playfully, as he elbowed static in the side a little harsher as a subtle warning. static was stoic & a big guy, who didn't take too kindly to the trash talk directed at him. "hot shit 'ere, eh?" amar smirked up at him as static gritted his teeth, resisting the urge to a) roll his eyes or b) deck amar's smug ass right in the face. he decided on the former.

after a tough loss for the apollo & hermes cabin, the boys retreated to the benches. panting & exhausted, xiao stumbled over to the nearest bench & turned to amar. "water?" amar handed him one. "thanks." he grumbled. amar smiled casually. "ma'lesh, xiao!" he insisted, smiling.
