Newt was bouncing off the walls; he loved when you asked about his creatures- his passion, his life work, his special interest.
“This one is- this-“ he was so excited he couldn’t formulate words correctly, stumbling over himself as he held up a little lizard. Newt took a deep breath, then continued to talk, staring at the beast, “this is an Amazonian salamander. They- they’re a part of the fire salamander family”
Newt smiled crookedly, eyes flitting to yours, then back down at the creature. “I…I studied them in Brazil- incredible creatures really, completely immune to severing and fire making charms.”
The warmth in his eyes was sweet- he had never looked so happy. Newt chuckled softly, “salamander…sounds like Scamander. They…rather remind me of myself in a way” he added awkwardly, before placing the Amazonian Salamander back in his suitcase.
