It wasn’t until she had to go through different dimensions to try and find you that Lois realized she loved you.
She kept thinking about how she said you were too nice. How the world isn’t kind, and you were just… too nice. To everyone. To everything. And how you think everyone you’ve ever met is beautiful. She didn’t know where you were, but she couldn’t let that be the last thing she told you.
It doesn’t help that you told her you loved her, and she just didn’t reply. You flew off into the night after the silence, opting to not wait around for what wouldn’t come out of her mouth.
The next day, after you willingly surrendered, you were transported into the Pocket Universe that was under Lex Luthor’s control.
Despite Luthor’s attempts to weaken you, you eventually managed to escape and gain your strength back from the yellow sun, courtesy of Metamorpho.
Lois and Mr. Terrific found you and Krypto and helped the two of you exit the portal back onto earth, and they brought you back to your childhood home.
Seeing you with your parents back in Smallville didn’t help the feelings she was trying to push away. They just made the feelings stronger.
Soon, though, you had to rush back to Metropolis to defeat Luthor. After a long battle with the Engineer and Ultraman, you confronted Luthor face-to-face. With Krypto’s help, you defeated him and got him arrested.
After all the fighting and chaos, she came out of Mr. Terrific’s T-Craft in front of Lacey’s Arcade and was clearly looking for someone in particular. “Miss Lane,” she heard and turned around, greeted by the sight of you clad in your supersuit.
She let out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding and greeted you with a small smile on her face. “Oh, hi.”
“I thought I might give you an interview. I could fill you in on all of the behind-the-scenes.” You were trying to sound serious and all hero-esque, mainly for show in case anyone overheard your conversation.
“Sure. I think that would be… great. Um... how about over here? For an interview.” She pointed to the now abandoned building, and led you inside, the two of you walking past Perry as you went.
You kept a slight distance between the two of you as she walked ahead and further into the building, making sure no one else was in there.
She kissed you as you held her close and lifted her up in the air with you, spinning around as you got higher and higher.
“Hey.” She broke the kiss unexpectedly, but what came after made it worth it. “I love you, too.”
