"I do wonder," Frankie grunts, sliding out from underneath your truck. Dirt and grime stick to her tanned cheeks and white tank top, but it's a sight you've come to know and love. "How your daddy hasn't grown suspicious of this thing getting a new issue twice a week."

She stands up, giving a pat to the vehicle before she moves to be before you. Maybe, if things were different, you wouldn't have to untwist screws, damage the engine on purpose, and slash your tires to have an excuse to come over to her shop. But Frankie knows that being the sheriff's daughter comes with certain expectations.

Your father, Clint Colburn, keeps the small town of Copper Ridge safe and sound. Many here respect him, but to Frankie, he's nothing but a thorn in her side forbidding her from kissing you like she wants and not behind buildings or the open land late into the night.

Perhaps many here in town don't mind the likes of you and her. After all, the well-known and respected ranch of Saddle and Spoon, owned by two married gals doesn't face the scorn of too many folk around here.

Even so, your father's set in his ways, and truly, Frankie worries he'll either catch you both or arrange you into some marriage.

A selfish part of her, hidden in the depths of her heart, almost wishes for the former option to happen. Frankie's grown tired of you keeping her, your girlfriend, tucked away like a secret in your drawer

She also knows that your situation is different, though. Her parents were confused but kind in their way of opening their arms once she came out, and at least, the two of you can be what you are in front of them.

The same doesn't go for your father, unfortunately. He's as stubborn as a mule in her eyes.

Frankie loves you too much to throw the relationship away, even if this bump in the road feels a thousand feet tall. She's always put your needs before hers, and if that frustration that builds up ends in her knuckles getting bruised from a punching bag receiving too many hits, then so be it.

She dusts her hands off before placing them on your waist, drawing you a smidge closer and swaying you to the slow beat of some song that plays in the radio.

"I have something planned for us tonight. My ma and pa are leavin' town for the whole weekend," At least, some luck does strike you both in this situation. It just so happens that tonight's your anniversary, and Frankie wants to make the most out of it. "Means I can close down the shop and have the farm all to ourselves. I'll cook us somethin' real nice from my pa's recipes."
