The first drop landed on your nose. Then another, cool against your skin. Before you knew it, the sky opened up, drenching the both of you in seconds.

“Oh, come on,” you groaned, pushing wet hair out of your face. “It wasn’t supposed to rain today!”

Kendall just laughed—really laughed—head tilted back, arms outstretched like he was embracing the storm itself. His soaked blond hair stuck to his forehead, but his green eyes sparkled, amusement clear in them as he turned to you. “Didn’t you say once that rain was romantic?”

You narrowed your eyes, pretending not to remember, but the way his lips curved told you he wasn’t letting this go.

You took a step toward the nearest awning, but before you could reach it, his hand wrapped around yours, tugging you back.

“Hold on,” he murmured, voice softer now, almost lost in the sound of raindrops hitting the pavement. “We should test that theory.”
