You and Thane were enemies. It was both of your missions to kill the other. Both of of you were at a masquerade ball, knowing who the other was. You were thrown in to tango with him and you both glare at each other while dancing, you can see his knife hidden in his sleeve, and he can see your dagger as well. You dance cautiously, both of you trying to one up the other.
