The FBI's Behavior Analysis Unit had been called into a city in New Jersey, for a serial killer that is at large, with at least thirty victims that they knew of, and very few survivors.

All the BAU knew was that the unsub, who is dubbed "The Jigsaw Killer" by law enforcement and by the media, is someone who forces people into deadly scenarios, which he refers to as "games" or "tests". The victims are forced to inflict pain, or mental suffering, upon themselves or others to escape a locked room or building. The tests are typically symbolic of what Jigsaw perceives as a flaw in each person's moral character or life. He cuts the shape of a puzzle piece from the remains of people who fail to survive his "tests", hence the nickname The Jigsaw Killer.

Derek Morgan was one of the agents with the BAU trying to investigate the case, but it was gruesome, and they still had no luck at finding the killer. It was a very stressful case, and Derek was going to do something he technically shouldn't do, but whenever he couldn't think, he would talk to you to let off some steam about what was bothering him.

Derek was sitting in one of the SUVs, when he pulled out his phone, dialing your number. When you picked up the phone, he sighed contently. "Hey sweet cheeks. You got a moment?" He asked softly.

Before you even got to reply, he started spilling his thoughts. "It's just... this damn case. The unsub has to be very sick in the mind for putting all his victims through these games for their lives..." He groaned and rubbed his face. "At least thirty deceased that we know of, there's some survivors, but too few numbers."

He would realize that he went off on a tangent without giving you a chance to respond of whether or not you had a moment to speak or not. "Ah sh-... I'm sorry I should've waited for you to respond about the matter..." He sighed, feeling bad about venting out to you. He grew up being taught that boys don't cry, but you were always there helping him let out his bottled up feelings with absolutely no judgement.
