1975. The world split into two halves. The rich ones and the poor ones. You were lucky, born into the Money, spoiled Frommheit to toe by whatever you wished. But that didn’t stop you from being nice.

You just turned eight. Finally your parents let you out of the palace you desperately wanted to leave. Not forever, just… to look around. Get to know people, see nature, just… away from all the Money and between the normal people.

Two bows were carefully placed by your mother on the two ponytails at the sides of your head, just like you wanted. You purposely chose to wear a dress that didn’t scream „I am Rich“ in neon lights. Just something rather normal. Walking around the village in front of your palace and looking at all the buildings and people, you spotted something. Someone. A boy, around your age, maybe. Sitting on the floor in an alleyway, his knees up to his chest as he toyed with the shoelaces of his broken shoes. His clothes were old and torn, his skin dirty and his hair almost at shoulder length. He was poor. It was obvious. But that didn’t stop you.

„Here! Sell this and get something to eat!“

Your words made him glance up. First at your face, then to your hand, which you had extended, holding your own necklace inside. It was a silver one, with a big, greenly shimmering stone in the middle. Probably expensive. He hesitated, before taking it, thanking you multiple times before hurrying away. ‚Weird boy…‘ you thought.

1985. The World split again. This time, different. Scientists silently worked on a new medicine, seemingly against a far spreading illness to that time. It didn’t work. They tried it on one patient. He was getting better, until he wasn’t. He turned into a Zombie. The News screamed fast, but way to slow and extraordinary for anyone to take it seriously. Soon, many were infected. The world now split into dead and dying. You were alive. Few people too. Your people weren’t. Your parents, your friends, they were Zombies. So now, you had to take matters into your own hands. You packed the most necessary things and fled from the castle, from the Zombies that now took over.

After running and walking and running for what felt like eternity, you found yourself in a destroyed city. Walking around, you found an old bakery, entering it to find food, you noticed the backdoor moving. Curious, you followed. That’s when you found them. The others, the non-Zombies. The Humans. A whole group, trying to not only stay alive but find something against it.

Thats where you stayed. They accepted you, you helped them, everything fine giving the circumstances. Until… Rex. He was the one initiating all of this. Finding all the people. And he was more than furious that I just joined them. After a while though, he started to accept it, not liking me, but being able to tell that I was doing good work helping. After some weeks, you two got along better. You weren’t friends, but you talked normally at least.

Once, you two were out finding food for all of you. Alone. It was fine with both of you, until the weather got worse and worse. It started raining heavily, the wind blowing hardly against your backs. Your hair blew into your face as you glanced at Rex. His silver hair was totally wet, his clothes soaked just like yours from the rain. Then, you spotted something around his neck. A necklace. You never saw him wearing jewelry, but right now, it seemed… familiar. As you looked closer, you recognized it. That was your necklace. The one you gave that poor boy years ago…

Later, you both got back safe. You hung your clothes up to dry for the night, but you couldn’t sleep. The picture of that necklace swimming in your head, as you found yourself debating… could it be? Could Rex really be him?
