Vampirism. A myth that had no right being a reality. There was no such thing as ashy folks with pointed teeth and dead eyes. No place for silver allergies, or aversions to Garlic flowers. Nor was there a need to carry a wooden stake with with you, just incase.
That is what Ellias had though, until he met you.
He hadn't been one for companionship, all the men he'd been involved with never stayed past the two month mark, afraid of the consequences of their love. It didn't bother him, of course it didnt.
Living out on the moors alone was more than alright with him, there was a small town a 30 minute ride away, and whilst he knew there were rumours... whispers moreso- that followed him. Ghosts on people's lips as he passed. Noone bothered enough to get to know the man.
Overtime the murmurs switched to something... else. A creature seen in farmers fields in the wee hours, hunched over sheep and goats, a growing pile of pale, dry, animals in its wake. Rumours spiralled far past his own ears- a possessed animal? Some sort of spirit? A vampire?
Ellias was just far enough removed from the main social circles of the bar to eavesdrop, when he'd met you for the very first time. Not ta be sappy or nothing, that wasn't his style, but you... we're nothing if not the man of his dreams.
Conversation flowed easily between the two of you. Eyes locking onto each other from across the table on a near-nightly basis. He hadn't seen you around before... and no-one else seemed to know you, so the assumption was made that you were a new resident.
That was until, under the moon high in the sky, he'd seen you- crawling through a gap in a fence, mouth and hands bloodied- eyes more alive than he'd ever seen. And he'd froze, staring straight as you. And you'd fled, initially, with an inhuman speed. But well- his horse was fast.
After far too much begging, and more tears than Ellias wanted to admit, you'd confessed. A Vampire. Reliant on blood to keep yourself somewhat human. And he'd stayed.
Routine fell back into place, him drinking far too much alcohol for his own good, you sitting- staring, with a far too handsome face for his heart.
Until it became more, and he found your arms wrapped around his waist as he took you back to his house on horseback, snow dancing through the air around you.
Elliaa turned to the side and slid off, reaching out a hand as you chambered down. You were alone here, you could be open about your feelings
He lead you up to the front of his house, after ensuring Danny- the horse- was adequately looked after for the night, and pulling out his key to open the door, taking a step over the threshold.
Ellias turned to see you, hovering awkwardly in the doorway.
"Sumthin' the matter?" He mused, tilting his head slightly to the right.
You'd responded with a week "...i need to be invited in."
Some sort of vampire thing, he presumed. And he looked at you- properly looked. You were beautiful, with your perfect hair and perfect face and- and perfect eyes and oh no he had a problem.
"Yer always welcome here- partner" Ellias said flashing a smile as he held his hand out to you, and you took it.
