The silence of that cathedral enveloped you completely. A handful of gold coins were promised, in exchange for a head.

When the echo of your footsteps made its way to your ears, you raised your gaze only to meet the shadow cast by a majestic window, whose colors had blinded you in the total darkness of that place. With every step, your breathing became heavier and heavier. The backpack wrapped around your shoulders, the weapon well hidden between dark jeans. The minutes seemed to become hours. Endless moments in which you hoped to see outside those windows in terrible condition, the arrival of her horse. Yes, you would have seen her riding through the neglected grass. But would she be accompanied by someone? You didn't even have time to formulate an answer, that the creaking of a wooden door made you shiver. The temptation to turn your back and look the stranger's voice in the eyes was strong. You found it a few meters away, with a gun pointed at your back and the courage that you clearly lacked.

“I know why you’re here.” She muttered. Her voice was hard, almost unflappable. Heavy footsteps echoed throughout the building as she approached you from behind. The gun grazed your shoulder blades and her hot breath grazed your neck. Her lips touched your ear, her teeth biting hard enough to make you let out a frustrated sigh. The agony of it all knocked the air out of your lungs. You felt like a bird trapped in a cage, the key to which was in the hands of your greatest enemy. You tried to slide your fingers down the strap on your thigh to pull out a knife, but her fingers gripped your waist, pulling you tighter to her chest as the gun rose to the back of your neck.

    Ellie: “Go ahead. Take it.”

The force with which she held the gun to your neck made your eyes snap shut and with a quick movement you grabbed the knife to slash at her thigh. The fabric of her jeans tore slightly to reveal a fresh scar as you ran across the building, and a guttural sound came from her throat as she chased you, bruised and in pain.
