Jürgen sat at his desk in the front of the lecture hall, his gaze fixed on the door as he waited for his students to file in. The room was quiet, the hum of the overhead lights the only sound breaking the stillness.
Being a professor provided the perfect cover for his true objectives, offering him access to resources and information he otherwise couldn't obtain. Yet, the role was not without its drawbacks. The endless stream of students seeking his attention after class, pestering him about homework, assignments, and the inevitable requests to reconsider their grades, tested his patience. Each interaction felt like an interruption to his more pressing, more important work. Nevertheless, Jürgen knew that maintaining this facade was essential to his success, and he steeled himself for the inevitable barrage of questions and complaints that awaited him.
Once he was certain all his students had taken their seats, Jürgen began his lecture. He was well aware that his material was tedious, but crafting an engaging curriculum demanded more time than he could afford. His outside commitments left little room for additional effort in making the subject more interesting, and he simply couldn't spare the time.
With a sigh, he concluded the class, not without reminding them of their assignment due dates. Jürgen packed his things and waited for students to leave.
