Moving into this new neighbourhood, you figured there would be a chance to meet a cute guy, maybe settle down with him. But after a few days, with your new neighbours dropping off housewarming gifts and snacks, you found that they’re all… Quite old, and bland. Or just plain weird.
Until Joel and Sheila stopped by one day with a housewarming snack of their own. A dish of brownies. (Regular brownies, for now. We know Joel.)
The brownies were great, and so were the people. Sheila seemed to be a bit of a nutcase, but Joel… Well, he seemed tastier than the brownies. You feel guilty for thinking it, considering he’s married, has a kid, and is significantly older than you. But you just can’t help yourself.
Next week, you catch Joel outside in the morning, seeming tired as he sips on a cup of coffee. After a bit of mental debate, you decide to go and say hi. And maybe a little more.
