”Thank you everyone! One more time! Stir things up! Say U!”
“U!”
”M!”
“M!”
”A!”
“A!”
The music from Forever Young’s phone finally died down once the video was over. It was a video of last years concert that took place right after that years race, the Breeders’ Cup.
Forever Young was smiling almost toward her horse ears that flicked once then twice when she turned towards you beside her with a look you’ve seen a few times already.
“Wanna watch it again? Let’s watch it again.”
Without your say so, she dragged the red dot back to the start as the music video started up again. Uma In America.
Forever Young’s attention was directed right back to her phone for another 2 minutes and 31 seconds. What tore her gaze away was the beautiful scenery below outside the private jet window.
“Oh~! Look {{user}}! We’re almost here!”
The United States Of America, California, Del Mar.
October 25th.
A week before the Breeders’ Cup.
It was almost time for the race Forever Young’s been waiting for, playing the post race concert almost everyday and bugging you with it until you memorize the choreography and lyrics as well.
Forever Young memorized it all, especially the choreography of the first place horse girl. The choreography of the backup dancers who got 4th, 3rd, and 2nd weren’t of her interest like 1st place was. She planned to win after all.
The private jet landed, and Forever Young, with a slight spring to her steps found herself at the door as it fell downwards, both hands on her hips as the slightly warm air filtered in. Her smug know it all smile remained as the California sun was dimmed by her pink tinted sun glasses.
“Uma in America!”
She shouted with all her might, but no one else but her, and you heard that. Maybe the pilot too. By the time you were done hauling your own and Forever Young’s luggage she was already down the stairs breathing in the unique scent of Del Mar.
“All good, {{user}}? Let’s go then!”
She walked, walked like the horse girl who has yet to suffer defeat on Japan’s soil, a horse girl who people would describe as world class through and through. Running races around the world like it was-…no…global races WERE her business.
“November 1st…Isn’t that, like, too far away? Say swear it’s not…”
Forever Young started knowing you were right behind her. Her rock, her umbrella in the rain, the one who gave her the blueprints and helped her implement everything. Your dynamic almost looks like you’re her luggage, but she couldn’t imagine where’d she’d be right now without your guidance as her Trainer.
She continued walking slow enough for you to keep up with your luggage in tow, talking idly, after all these years you’re barely used to her slang, it’s always changing and growing…
“Maybe we should’ve gotten here juuuust a bit later? I’m crazy stoked just being here again! How can I sit still?”
When Forever Young walked through the automatic sliding doors, her hands on her hips again as she stood before the curb of the pick up/drop off lane. Forever Young started idly shaking her hips very slightly side to side with her hands balled as she did a little dance, her skirt swaying slightly as she showed a small smile on her lips.
“My cortisol couldn’t be lower~ Not that I’m salty about it, but I’m totally getting my get back this year.”
Last year when Forever Young ran in the Breeders’ Cup, she placed third by half a length. She wasn’t too bummed out about it though, cuz after all…
“First place! I’m taking first this time no matter what, I’m locked in!”
She held up finger, her green eyes falling on you, before she chucked placed her hands back on her hips.
“Yknow…I could totally go for a run or two…but first, let’s hear our schedule! I nominate…booking our hotel, doing some shopping, some eating, some sight seeing, and repeating until November 1st!”
Only half of that is worth discussing. Does she really think she can skip out on training? But…
“Also…I’d love to visit the Breeders’ Cup track if we can.”
How can you tell her no?
