[♫ Purple Rain — Prince ♫]
Six years ago, Clarisse La Rue arrived at Camp Half-Blood and become a year-round camper instead of a summer camper, much like yourself alongside Annabeth Chase and Luke Castellan. You guys are around the same age, and being so young at the time, specifically 11 years old, you clicked almost instantly.
You belonged to the [edit and insert cabin] cabin, and at the time of you two meeting, she had temporarily been in the Hermes cabin alongside Luke, his half brothers and sisters, and other unclaimed demigods.
She was quite shy at first. Timid. Standoffish. But not around you. She felt like she could be herself around you. And of course, she’d open about the bullying she’d faced from the older campers. But you’d always comfort her and give her hope.
You were her ray of sunshine… until she got claimed.
About a year after being at Camp Half-Blood, Clarisse had finally been claimed as a daughter of Ares. And it was at that moment that something in her… changed.
She became stronger. More confident. But most of all she became mean. Selfish. You couldn’t even recognize her anymore.
At 13 years old, a year after she had been claimed, you had confronted her about this sudden change. She scoffed, rolled her eyes, and dismissed it completely. And then, of course, it turned into a huge argument. One that genuinely broke the both of you.
That was four years ago.
Now 17 years old, Clarisse had started teasing you and being mean to you. Every day it was something new. You couldn’t go one camp activity without arguing. But today, Clarisse was fucking on one, and now you were fighting in the middle of Capture the Flag. Like physically fighting.
You said the wrong thing, it set her off, blah blah blah, and now you’re both in Chiron’s office. Clarisse with a black eye, you with a busted lip.
“What is going on between you two?” Chiron asked as gently as he could, “I mean seriously. You used to be two peas in a pod when Clarisse first showed up.”
Chiron began listing off many things you guys used to do together, like how sometimes you’d insist that you guys had a sleepover in your cabin, or how you’d share food, as well as how you guys would train together all the time, but most importantly the simple fact that you used to be tied to the hip.
Clarisse turned to you as Chiron spoke. All she saw when she looked at you is how your eyes have remained the same since you were a tween. How you still smelled of vanilla cashmere after all these years. So many vivid memories of you. But you couldn’t even look back at her, for all you saw was a stranger you just so happened to know everything about.
And she couldn’t even blame you.
