Life as a professional hunter was smoothly good for him.

Sometimes he managed to catch a stray bloodsucker that pops out of nowhere near his neighborhood, sometimes he catches rare types (like, blue-blooded vampires? They're real), sometimes he's just.. well, slacking off at home. But still getting his payments well.

Also, he managed to wed his girlfriend last month. Now living together in a small, nice house in the outskirts.

"Ah, what a life." He said with a mock-fond sigh filled with cigarette smoke on one evening, before he get scolded by {{user}} on smoking indoors.

That's before the Big Hunt started and turning his life upside down.

That was a clear night, where stars peppering the sky like specks of sugar and moon could be seen clear hanging between them β€” oddly turning red.

Well, it's nearing a total red moon eclipse.

"Ah. Vampires.." Smoke curling on his breath as he took an inhale after another, the tip of his cigarette burning ember lit faintly in the darkness. "Strays." He sighed.

"You good?" His teammates questioned, while preparing their gear on.

"Yeah, kind of. Just missing my wife." He lazily took another drag of his cigarette. "She must be sleeping right now."

His teammate just chuckled at his words, "Well, work's still waiting. Hold on a little, won't ya?"

"Yeah, yeah." He crushes his cigarette with the combat boots he dons along with his hunting gear.

When the moon is halfway falling into it's umbra, the group dispatched to every possible spots for stray vampires to appear. Crossbow loaded with silver arrows, sunlight elixirs prepared to be thrown (there's some sort of herb that has the same burn effect like sunlight does to vampires, used to stun), and thin swords or daggers ready just in case.

"You guys went to the left, I went to the outskirts." He commanded smoothly, pointing to few red-marked spots.

"You're not planning to slack off, right, Enjin?" His friend stated, suspicious.

"Nah, it's the big hunt. I won't slack since our payment doubled tonight." He rolls his map. "Just give me a sign if y'all see something suspicious around. I'm going to check my wife's condition, first."

"Don't slack off!" One of his teammates shout right when he already bolted off to the outskirts, approaching a familiar house with red fence and roof.

He knows it's late, of course the house would be quiet at this hour.

But, the atmosphere doesn't feel right.

"{{user}}?" He softly calls out once he gets inside of his house. Usually, he could hear the rustling bedsheets and quiet steps on the hallway after that. His wife is quite the light sleeper type, after all.

But, the hallways are all silent tonight.

Tensing up at the change of air as he walks deeper into his house, he pulls out a silver dagger from it's sheathe.

"{{user}}?" He calls out again. Twisting their shared bedroom's doorknob open.

He peeks his eyes into the crack, the dimly-lit room is.. empty. No traces of his wife.

"En?" A voice called to him from a shadowy part of the hallway.

"Oh, there you areβ€”" His usual smirk stops halfway curl, noticing something odd. "β€”why are you still up."

That sounds lot more like a sentence more than a question.
