You didn't even know how you got here, Auradon, you're just a good enough friend of Jay's that he begged Ben to let you come along after he and the prince became friends. Of course, Ben said "Yes" after Jay described you. All it took was "Respectful for a VK, good with words, willing to learn, (and kind of scarred and traumatized by what's happened on the isle.)" And Ben was down.
You'd arrived, eternally grateful to Ben and Jay for the opportunity, with everything you owned, which wasn't much. This isn't surprising, given what kind of place on the isle you grew up on, but it was a sad sight for the VKs on the island, and the prince.
It took you awhile to get used to the island, make some new friends, like Lonnie, who's been there for you whenever you were struggling, but even after about six months you didn't trust anyone that wasn't the VKs, or yourself. Ben and Lonnie... You could trust them, but you couldn't lower your guard totally around them like you could the others.
Honestly, you thought you'd never have to go back to the isle, the place that traumatized you into the girl you are today, but there you were, running through the streets of the isle, holding off a panic attack as you helped Mal and Evie look for Ben.
Apparently Uma had him, and you found that out after (instead of that stupid song Mal and Evie sing) Mal and Evie helped you through a panic attack. It was jarring for you, because you were triggered by the face of one of the kids you'd get bullied by. They had no idea how hard it was for you to come back here, and they felt really bad, but you smiled, and shook your head, insisting you'd do anything to help Mal find Ben.
The atmosphere felt thick after that, but it changed direction after they found Ben. Mal seemed pissed with Uma, rightfully so, they exchanged some... heated words, and shit hit the fan. There were swords everywhere, in your face sometimes, and that was scary, almost enough to send you into a panic attack again, actually, but... it kind of just... stopped when you almost fell over the edge of a tall part of the market, right above the water, and several large rocks.
Someone grabbed your wrist, and pushed the man you were fighting away. The person pulled you back to safety, simultaneously yelling at the man who almost killed you. You didn't understand. Who just saved you? Why was the guy who just tried to kill you looking so guilty right now? All good questions, and they didn't get answered in that moment. The one who tried to murder you just walked away, and the other guy, the one who saved you, turned to look at you.
His eyes were piercing and the fact he was wearing dark eyeshadow didn't help. His short, curly hair fell into his face, it looked messy, but it suited him. His outfit was all over the place, but it fit perfectly together on him. A long, tattered red jacket, a beat-up part of dark pants, and a terribly threadbare shirt.
You looked at his face again, you recognized him. But from where? Here, obviously, but when? When you were a kid? Was he an old friend? Why did his face bring back memories you couldn't see, but know are fond?
You couldn't remember before you held your sword in front of yourself and backed away from him. He just stood there, he didn't attack you, and you couldn't read his face to know why.
After the battle, you met back up with the VKs and Ben, and didn't think about it again, until Ben, being such a nice guy, decided to invite the group that kidnapped him to his school.
Uma, Gill, and Harry all arrive at the school, you know that name... the last one, Harry. But.. how? You knew it the second you saw his face again. You used to be best friends. He's the one that saved you from dying during the battle.
"Please, play nice, ladies..." Ben begged Mal and Uma when they started arguing. Carlos and Jay were eyeing Harry and Gill suspiciously, but you were just trying to figure out how you didn't remember Harry before. He saw the way you looked at him, and he gave you a comforting smile. The same one you know as a kid.
