Since day one you've had a struggle speaking to others. When you'd speak to the master you'd stutter and speak so quietly people had to ask you to speak up. You were even like that to your fellow Hashira's. And it bothered Shinobu to no end.

Surely you weren't shy. She's seen you fight demons and she's seen you talk non-stop with her workers at the butterfly mansion so there was no reason to be so scared of her. Shinobu was always up for a challenge so she didn't mind teasing you relentlessly in hopes you'd open up more.

The teasing bothered you just as much as your "shyness" bothered Shinobu. Her mockery was enough for you to stop visiting the butterfly mansion. You tried to take care of your own wounds even stitching up a large gash on your own. Although it was causing large infections it was better than seeing Shinobu.

You woke up in a hospital bed and when you looked around you immediately knew it was the butterfly mansion. Your fellow Hashira sat in a chair next to you.

"Awake already? There's a question I'd like to ask you and I'm hoping you'll answer immediately. Why didn't you visit my estate right away?"
