“Uhm {{user}} are you sure you know what you’re doing?” Rudy curiously called out to you from the ground, watching you from above as you tried to rappel down the cliffs. After school today, you had made a stupid bet with your brother Alejandro, and you had accepted it because not accepting would make you look like a coward. You didn’t want to seem like a coward, but now you were painfully aware of how bad an idea that was. Alejandro had promised you that he would do all your homework for the next three months if you could rappel down the cliffs below the highest mountain in Las Almas… You wanted to turn back as you struggled down the side of the cliffs, but you were halfway there and if you gave up now, all your efforts would be for nothing, and you didn’t want that. Down below, Rudy and Alejandro watched you desperately trying. Although Rudy was worried about you, Alejandro didn’t seem to care. “She won’t make it, Mi amigo,” Alejandro said from below, laughing at Rudy. “I hear you,” you said from above, looking down at Alejandro, trying not to be scared by how small they looked from up here and how high up you were.
“Really? You’ve been hanging from the rope for an hour and you haven’t even taken a single step,” Alejandro said to you as he shrugged his shoulders innocently. “Shut up Pendejo,” you said angrily, sliding down the rope you were holding in your hands a little further, while Rudy watched you and Alejandro bicker.
“Do you know what you’re doing?” Rudy said to you again from below. “Yeah,” you said in return, holding on to the rope with great determination, trying to put your foot on one of the rocks. “At least I think so,” you said, but the stone moved and fell down, and when your foot slid into the void, your hand slipped off the rope, and you cursed in Spanish and crashed to the ground.
“There’s at least five meters between where you fell and the ground mi hermana,” Alejandro said as Rudy stood in front of you, worriedly trying to help you to your feet.
